Change your cap and rotor if you look inside the cap and you see a line going to the 4th cyl that will cause a missfire good luck CJ

CHECK YOU FIRING ORDER, YOU MIXED THE IGNITION WIRES, IF IT IS A 4 CYL, FIRST CYLINDER #1 IS NEAR THE BELTS, CHECK COIL WIRES FOR NUMBERS, OR DISTRIBUTOR CAP FOR CYLINDER NUMBER OR COIL PACK FOR CYL #, AND FOLLOW THE WIRES TO THE SPARK PLUGS. MAKE SURE THEY ARE RIGHT, NEXT TIME DO ONE PLUG AND ONE WIRE AT THE TIME.

I have a 1996 isuzu trooper the #3 cyl is not firning, what could cause this problem?

Have you checked to see if there is spark coming off of the spark plug? Also, each spark plug does not have a traditional plug wire like the older cars. IE: There is some sort of an electronic component that bolts on top of where the plug goes in. Have you checked that? Have you used a scan tool to see if any codes are showing? Finally, there could be a problem with your ignition module that is located on top of the engine. Is this a 3.2 fuel injected engine?

My jeep just started acting up it raddals and shakes when i push the gas and pops when i go around a curve and push the gas i have no power goin up a hill goes so slow. Anyone know whats wrong with it

Sounds like you might have bad spark plug wires, nothing a tune -up wont fix, spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, and gas filter, not knowing the year of your car, also check distributor cap and rotor, good luck, hope this was very helpful, happy 4th.

alot of the 4 cyl vehicles spark plug leads are joined to distributor cap and come as complete assembly leads and cap.the new leads have cylinder numers on them and/or on dissy cap.

2005 explorer 4.0 eng Service eng. soon light came on took it to autozone. The computer said #5 cylinder missfiring. Put new plugs & wires didn't make a difference. Checked compression this morning...

Changeout the rotor button and cap. the cap has carbon pins under there and wear down from the rotor button. The rotor button sits on the distributor which is easily pulled off. When removing these be sure the plug wires stay in order, Also, use di-electic grease on the plug wires, prevents moisture getting there and run away sparks. CAP/ROTOR button $20 approx.

Changed plugs and plug wires and now it wont start? i checked for spark off the distributer all 6 were good?

if your engine run before you changed anything, and you are talking about a 3.0 engine,
you have to be careful changing wires on this engine,
you need toonly change one wire at a time, the distributor cap on this engine is just stupid.
if you look under the cap you'll see that a wire on the one side of the cap actually has a contact that leads to the other side of the cap.
cly 5 cyl 6
cyl 3 cyl 4
cyl 1 cyl 2
front of engine

if your looking at distributor cap from front of engine,
two screws hold down cap.
look at the screw closest to the front, from that screw second hole to the left is #1.
firing order is 123456
#2 wire will be at that front screw on cap, keep installing wires counter clockwise.

Need help replacing wires on dist cap 1987 4 cyl Trooper

Firing order is stamped on the block intake manifold or label. 4 cyl are typically 1324

From the web:
The firing order for four cylinder engines where the cylinders are in-line is 1243 or 1342.
Those are the only two possibilities I've ever found for inline four cylinder engines. In practice, it's almost always 1342, except for Ford engines which are 1243.

Take one off at a time and replace it

Do not run the wires parallel (side-by-side) for more than 6". Cross them over each other wavy-like if needed. This will prevent crossfire.

Replace Points, Plugs, Condenser, Rotor and Cap too.

Good luck!
