I have a 2004 Jeep Grand 4.0 inline 6 with 116000 miles on it. Over the last day or two I have noticed very light smoke coming from up front by the radiator. You can only see the smoke when I am stopped. The oil pressure is fine and temp is running well within the norms. What would be causing this smoke? There is no burning metal smell and no smoke coming from exhaust.

Smoke from that area is likely steam. It's possible that you have some slight seepage from the radiator or one of the hoses up front. At this point, the coolant loss is very slight and you may not see much in the way of dripping but there may be a wet spot on or near whatever is leaking that you can locate after it's been run and shut down for about a half hour.
You can also have a shop do a fluorescent
dye test to locate the problem.
Catching any leak while it's this small can avoid major problems later, so don't ignore it...leaks don't get better, they get worse.

I've noticed lately that many people are reading many of the answers given here and not bothering to note if they were helpful. don't neglect to do that as well!!!!
Good luck

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L, oil leak ontop of engine, around and infront of oil fill hole.

Gasket/O-ring bad on the oil fill cap. The fan is throwing it around where you've found the excess.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee temp gauge high when heat is on

If your "check engine" light is turn on, I suggest scanned the PCM to know exactly what fault code is stored there. Additionally, could be some problem with the "temp sending unit".

I have a 2002 JGC as well and its the driver side one with mine. I changed the bulb this last time and used bulb lube to cover all the metal. It worked for a mile then went out again but didnt burn out this time. I checked the contacts on the base and noticed there was some rust, scraped off with blade and used more bulb lube on those contacts too, working for now.

Have you checked the air cleaner? .The computer should be read to see what problems are indicated. It doesn't seem that you are getting very good gas mileage. Black smoke means high fuel use!
