My 2.2 ecotec runs good in all conditions except on a hot day after an hour on the highway it revs up to 3 thousand rpm at idle shutting the car off and restarting after ten min solves the problem. The check engine light does not come on. Please help

You could have a bad idle air control motor. It is located on the throttle body.

MISFIRE, SPARK? BAD?
VACUUM LEAKS,
INJECTORS LEAK OR 1/2 CLOGGED.
LOW FUEL PRESSURE TO RAIL.
IT RUNS FINE SO FUEL PRESSURE IS OK

SCAN THE PCM AND SEE WHAT'S UP./?
EOBD IN EUROPE NEAR LIKE OURS USA OBD2L.
SCAN IT. NEVER SKIP THE SCAN OR WASTE CASHE ON LABOR AND PARTS NOT NEEDED.

How to adjust idle revs on a toyota glanza ep91turbo?

NOT told TOO HIGH OR TOO LOW, and what the RPM now.????
800 RPM hot is par for hot idle.
in USA all are cars 1988 up EFI are controlled by ECU and not the humans did with carbs in the good old days/ by LAW here.

HOT idle RPM or cold IDLE RPM.??? or both are wrong.
not told that. and is key to any cure for sure.

ECU controls actual turbo and injection rates and more.
and sold to
Japanese market, although some used private imports made their way to the UK, New Zealand, and many other right-hand drive markets.
most cars but gee 1989/96 are very old cars.
had 2 idle speed controller. (this is pure experience not your car that the USA does not have)
IAC (thermal controlled idle (coolant temp.) only
ISC (ECU control hot idle above 65C coolant temp)
this how all ours worked here, 1986 to 2000, then the ISC took over all idle controls.)
no 2 engines use same controls,
on some old cars high idle hot is caused by these factors.
1: coolant never gets to 82c(bad thermostat)
2: vacuum leaks.
3:IAC bad or ISC , clogged up, and jamming/sticking
3: ECU is stuck in limphome, idle controls suspended.
4: on our cars the EPA dictates IDLE and has no screw to set.
5: TV plate gummed up and sticks (throttle valve)

the best answer is to first buy the service manual
and read ISC page (idle speed controls) ECU controlled.
read IAC Idle Air controller. page. water temp controlled.

Idle problem integra

check the MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure). The ECM (car computer) uses that to keep idle at minimum 750 RPM. It's normal for it to run high when cold. These small 4 banger motors typically run hot, and they won't run right IF they're NOT running hot, ergo the idle is usually high when it is cold so as to cause it to warm up quicker. If the RPM's drop below 750, suspect the MAP sensor, &/or ECM.

The air conditioning blows cold when at idle or low RPM's. It blows hot at faster RPM's that include most driving, especially highway speeds. What do I need to fix?

It is possbile that you may be low on freon in your pickup and you may need to have it recharged this will run you about 60 dollars.

22r carb dumping fuel at 2500 rpm will not pass smog.Was rebuilt and is in smog specs. at idle.

Fill the tank up but do not top off.

Ran the trunk for 15-20 minutes on the highway and recheck the fuel surge condition at 2500 rpm.

If it stop surging then you has a weak fuel pump.

Change the fuel filter will also help.

Also check the fast idle setting.

1991 pontiac trans am will start and idle but after 25-2800 rpm'

how about highway driving will it cruse at highway speeds and if you were to step down on it does it bog down ? and does it still have the cats on it ? just a thought..

RMP drops

you may have a vacum hose not connected for it to stop and not idle
when you turn the a/c on it has a sevo operating the thottle to give it more revs so it doesnt stop
maybe you just need to increase the idle screw a bit

1998 Cavalier Quad 4 2.4l runs rich wont rev past 1500 rpm

can be a mass air flow, idle air flow ,or even a hole in the tube between the airbox and the throttlebody........any air leak will cause this to happen.make sure you have no vaccuume lines off either
