Hi i have a bmw 316 compact 1.9 1999 and recently it has developed 2 problems at the same time. The first is that it doesnt reach operating temperature anymore always runs cooler than normal but the temperature wanders depending on speed. At 70mph it is cooler. It has also started to use a lot more petrol. The two problems are councident with the cooling system running out of water due to a hose problem. any suggestions? I suspect the thermostat failing open but can this cause a very noticeable increase in fuel consumption? thanks very much

Ive got an bmw 316 compact when pulling away from traffic lights, t-junction car jerks alot

High possibility the maf sensor needs dervicing or replace. you can clea it yourself with electrical spray cleaner CRC brand. It is located inside the intake duct in a metal section. Do not brush or rub to clean. Use the spray to thoroughly wash off the sensor, It is sensitive and expensive to replace so be nice to it.
The spray will dry fast so don't use compressed air and don't physically touch the unit. Good Luck, Ned

Eml light.. loss of power

Hi
Air flow sensor could be a problem.
Every time EML comes on the car computer will put the system into limp mode. To avoid any further damage to the engine.

once switch off, isolated and re-start will re-run the program and clear it temporary.
Ideally you need to get the car plugged in to a Diagnostic computer and see what fault code are stored.

Thanks
