Hi! It may not be a vaccum problem. I think that the hoses that goes thru the main vent is the problem. They may have fall thats why theres no air coming out of the main vents only on the defrosters. Check the hoses and connect them to the main vents and it will resolve this. HOpe this helps and have a good one!
You could be driving along and it will switch from the defrost vents to the dash vents by it self
Thanks for the clarification, I suspect the a/c direction control switch. This may be faulty thats why it switches itself specially during bumps or some vibrations. You may need to have it checked and replace when necessary.
Where is this switch located in the vehicle? I have already changed the main On/Off control panel assembly. Thanks

The heat and air conditioning operates off the control settings on the dash as you know. This control is connected to many other items that direct the flow of air. The duct work has electronic modules that open and close the ducts doors. If it is only directing the flow to the defrosters the module to that door needs replacing.
You can get this item at any GM dealership and it will probably be a special order item only

1998 Buick LeSabre Custom I will turn on the A/C and air will only blow out the defrost vents sometimes it will change over to the proper vents. At times I use to switch it over to heater and back to A/C and that would work. But now it stays stuck coming out the defroster vents and all that does is spot up your windshield. Any suggestions, I think it has to do with vacumn, but I don't know where to look. Thanks, Matt Also I have already changed the main control module.
Where is the freon port on 2001 Buick lesabre? Both ports are the same size and have black caps?
