There was a recall for the ignition switch of the 1998-2000 models, in which you could take the key out while driving ( no need to return to off position) and random ignition problems attributable to the switch. Make sure your replacement switch is a post-recall unit.

No, its probably faulty take it back and have them check it.also double check your installation

  • patnchlonkay May 18, 2010

well at first i thought it was maybe my installation but then i put the old one back in the same way and all good so i guess it must be faulty. i just hope that they don't give me any problems since they have a no return policy on special order parts and it's been awhile since i bought it....anyway thanks. =)

2001 honda crv I'm driving but can't take key out of ignition in Park could drive but key is stuck won't come out

Sounds like you need a new ignition. If its really stuck you will have to get a replacement key and a new ignition. Usually not to expensive and any competant shop can swap it for you. You also might want to check the neutral safety switch. That is the only switch that has to do with your drive park position.

1992 Honda Accord starting problem

you need to get a honda dealer to code the key(s)to the car.otherwise it will turn over and die each time you try to start it.(some cars have matching ecm/ignition switches)it would have been easier to tell your local honda dealer the chassis no and they would then have supplied the keys to your car.then coded them.

Yes, Most keys now a days are made so that they carry a chip on the inside of them. You will need to take the car to a Honda dealership so they can get the key programed for you.
