97 Chevy Suburban. Front left brake caliper apllies brake pressure but will not close when pressure to the pedal is relieved. We replaced both calipers (drum brakes on back) but the problem is still there. Have the heard of this problem before? The brake fluid is not able to get out of the caliper once there.

SOURCE: 97 Chevy Suburban. Front left brake caliper

i would have to say the master brake cylinder is at fault. there are ports in the cylinder that allow fluid back into the reservoir. these ports may be clogged. or the brake hose/line is clogged. have you changed the brake hose?

2011 f 150 wears just the outer brake pad on the right front. i have replaced caliper and hose. also the wheel rubs if i dont have a spacer on it

If the caliper is not floating that is sliding back and forth freely, it cannot relieve the pressure build up from stepping on the brake pedal. If the caliper rubs on the wheel, you either have the wrong caliper, it is not positioned properly or you have the wrong wheel.

What is next? Brake pressure is non-existent on all but front left. Pedal pressure is very hard. Replaced all calipers and master cylinder. Fluid does not exit nipple when bled on all but left front.

Its possible that your rubber lines are collapsed. I've had them keep fluid from going thru as well as not releasing pressure. See if fluid gets to caliper thru rubber. You can plug it with your finger and release pedal. If you feel vacuum and fluid flows well when you push brake, that's probably not the problem. Its somewhere to start tho.

Proper way/order to bleed 97 camry brakes in abs system

Hi there, to bleed the brakes properly you need 2 people, 1 to supply pressure to the pedal and the other to release the air from them bleed screw, it is a very teedias job, and you can spend a lot of time trying to bleed the system, you can do it alone, fill up the reservoir and loosen the bleed screw from the caliper, it will drain by gravity, just keep check on the amount of air from the system and make sure you top up the reservoir after each brake bleed

I have a 97 chevy c3500. the left front brake was locking up while driving. i replaced the caliper and bled and am still having the same problem. the right front brake is fine as well as the rear brakes. ...

sounds like the brake hose has colasped not letting the fluid return back from the caliper, common promblem on chevrolet another sign is it will pull to the right when braking hope this helps.

1997 suburban C1500. I replaced the Front pads

Hi,
You will have to check each brake caliper for pressure when the brake pedal is applied. You may have a sticking piston in one of the brake calipers.

This will cause a spongy pedal.

Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

Thanks
Jason

Replacing front brake brake calipers and bleeding them

jack up car and remove wheels, use a stick to depress brake pedal about an inch this will keep fluid from running out during replacement, loosen bleeder screws to relieve pressure, then ddisconnect brake hose at caliper, replace the calipers and reinstall hoses with new gaskets, remove brake hold down and bleed passenger side then drivers side.

I need to know how to bleed the brakes on a 1999 chevy blazer

Start from right rear, then, left rear, right front, left front. Fill master cylinder. Have helper sit in car, have helper hold brake pedal down. open bleed screw. fluid and air comes out. close screw. release brake pedal. Continue until no air comes out. Move to next wheel. Keep an eye on master cylinder fluid level after each wheel.

Front brakes are not releasing

okay did you pressure test your brakes??? jack up front have some one press pedal try to turn wheel then when pedal is released tire should turn if not wait 1-2 minutes then try to turn the wheel with no body pressing the pedal and if it does turn then I would be replacing flex hose!!! fact: if caliper is seized it will not turn !these flex hoses build rust under the steel fastener bracket that is moulded around the hose then slowly over times closes it off as rust builds and slowly closes it off to a pin hole passage i have changed thousands of these over the years! yours will probably be the same! brake fluid has no problem making it to the caliper and bleeder it is when you release the brake the applied pressure is gone and now it take a couple of minute or seconds to slowly return!!!!! I know this will help!!!!
