If a petrol engine then their is a gauze filter inside the fuel tank on the pick up pipe ,Unless you have been filling with fuel from cans you should never need to change a fuel filter ,diesel yes but petrol cars i have never changed a fuel filter on a modern car with a fibre glass tank ,the old metal tanks then yes but on modern cars ---?= never had a problem
If can't see under bonet it is probably a paper cartridge filter located under the car, follow the fuel line from the back you will probably find a big black plastic houseing about 1 /2 way - 3 /4 of the way up the vehicle. That is where the filter will be.
Look in between the rear axle and the gas tank right above the charcoal canister. Use a 16mm and a 20mm wrench on the threaded side and a 5/16"quick release tool on the other side. Sometimes the quick release side will have a black plastic piece that can be pushed into the fitting to release it from the fuel filter. Sometimes it is a blue or green clip that needs to be released to remove the line from the filter.
It is a lot easier to move the charcoal canister out of the way to replace the filter.
The fuel filter on this car is located inside the fuel tank and is a part of the fuel pump module. As such, it is only replaced as part of the fuel pump module and can't be changed. In theory it is a lifetime filter and they usually last for the life of a pump however if the filter should become plugged somehow you'd have to replace the entire pump. I've replaced a few pumps on these due to pump failure but usually don't see any problems before about 120k miles.
