These are really quite easy to do just time consuming. 1. remove the air ducting from the air box and throttle body 2. remove the accelerator cable and kickdown cable(if equiped with auto trans) from the throttle body 3. remove the 4 bolts from the throttle body and be careful to not ruin the gasket upon removal 4. remove the black cover from the rocker cover(valve cover) 5. remove the 2 coli packs and the spark plug wires. 6. remove the 4 spark plugs. Use NGK or Nippon Denso plugs and gapped at .032". Let me know if you need anything else.

Does 2001 Kia Sportage needs wires for a tune up?

The ignition wires break down over time to to the high voltage they carry as well as underhood engine temperatures. It is a good idea to replace them during spark plug change to avoid any chance of misfires

Our 2001 Kia Sportage does not appear to be running on all 4 cylinders. Could it be the spark plugs?

Spark plugs, plugs wires, coil, igntion module, or bad cylinder. One or all or any combination

I need to know how to replace the spark plugs on a kia sportage 2001

You will have to remove the in-take, not that bad of a job, about 8 bolts hold the in-take, remove bolts and throttle body, lift up on in-take to remove spark plugs.

Changed timing belt on 2001 kia sportage but still runs rough

I would check the connectors on the coil packs, spark plugs and wires and replace them if they at all seem worn or tired. My 2000 sportage ran rough so I replaced the fuel filter, coil packs, spark plugs and wires, cleaned out the IAC valve, TPS, throttle body and intake tube, tightened the screws on the fuel pump access door under the right rear seat and cleaned the ground wire and the contact surface and I added 1 ground wire from the block to the firewall and 1 from the valve cover to the firewall. Your timing is more than likely right where it needs to be but the ignition may be slightly missing from a bad coil pack, dirty or fouled plugs or a bad plug wire.

Locate spark plugs on 2001 kia sportage

the spark plugs are located in the head. you must remove the upper half intake manifold first, it has three bolts 12mm. then remove the black plastic cover down the center of the valve cover, six 10mm bolts. remove the two coils and plug wires. now you have access to your spark plugs. Good Luck
