Broken hood release cable. Can't open hood

The cable could be broken and not attached to the latch.

Might just be stuck. Have someone pull the release as you FIRMLY pound on the front of the hood in the middle with your fist (NOT A HAMMER ! ! ! !).

If that works and it opens, get some WD40 and spray the latch and cable, lever, etc... and then work the release lever before closing it again. If the cable has broken....... it is very difficult to release without some automotive knowledge. I'm betting it is just stuck...

if it is broken from inside the cab, skin the cable housing until you get to the cable and grab it with pliers or vice grips and pull the release. If it is broken from the latch under the hood you are going to need to get to the latch and release it with something, anything that you can get in there and pull the release latch.

If just the mounting broke & not the cable also, take a pair of vicegrips or good pliers on visible portion of steel cable & pull inward. If the cable itself is not broken it will pull out enough to open release.

Does it look like the release cable might be stuck. Check to see if there is extra cable at the release mechanism inside the truck.You may need to replace the release cable. Or possibly just grease and work the latch to free it up.It's really hard to tell without looking at it in person.But, it's worth a shot. And, I don't know how safe it is. One good bump could cause a broken windshield.

depend where it`s broke if lever inside the car is broke try getting some plyers on the cable to open the hood and replace cable once hood is open

you need to try to reach for the cable under the car or try to get the cable from under the dashboard,good luck

try having someone push down on the front of the hood as u try the release, if that works lube the the hood latch with spray lithium grease.

can you reach the cable itself?,or is it broke at the hood latch?IF its not broken at the outside latch, try to follow the cable,un-hook it from the handle and pull on the wire cable to open it.IF its broken at the latch itself,you are going to have to reach the latch through the grille and try to pull the lever the cable connects to.That part is no fun at all..!!

you are going to have to either remove the panneling to get at the cable and pull it with vise grip or try to get up inside the hood from the front and release the latch that way . either way is going to be tough to get to.
