We bought it used and we dont know the keyless

You need to go to the dealer, to get the
MFG Code and instructions for the
Keyless Entry System,then you can
put in your own code

the easiest way to go about resetting the keyless entry is to take it to a ford dealer or specialist to reset it is fairly cheap and to have a new one installed isnt bad either

How to find the Security Keyless Keypad Code on the 1995-2001 Ford Explorer or Mountaineer and how to use the Keypad functions. The factory code is also printed on a label which is installed on the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) Module. This is the module that controls the keyless entry system. It is located in the left rear quarter behind the removable panel (see photo). You will need to turn the two thumb screws counter clockwise and take the plastic panel off to be able to see the unit. A flashlight may be helpful in seeing the code. You are looking for the module and the 5 digit code on it like the one shown below.




Now that you’ve got the code I’ll tell you how to use the Keyless entry and set-up your own code.Make sure when pressing the controls on the keyless entry keypad you press the middle of the buttons to ensure good contact with the controls.

I bought a Ford and luckily the owner knew the code. Ford told me I would have to bring it to them if I didn't have code.

if you do not already know the factory code, the only way it can be obtained is by your local ford dealer. the proprietary computer equiptment they have can access the code that is programed in vehicles security module. if you purchased it used..it is often that the keyless entry code id card is still withe the owners manual..it is a 5 digit code printed on an credit card sized card that is white in color..i hope this helps you...good luck

The dealer will have to recover the code for you. Look at spending about 100 bucks unless you are getting other work done they will usually do it for free if you have other biz with them.

It should be on the computer. But this computer is behind the panel in the left, rear part of the vehicle. But if the code doesn't work then either the past owner changed it or there is another issue.

dealer can help you out but i think the orignal one will always be in the computer even when you change it

They normally stamp the Keyless entry code in the trunk and if not I belive the Computer that controls this is located behind the Glove box and they normally have the code printed on it.
