Dash illumination Is there illumination, lamp or bulb, for the portion of the dash that has the heating/cooling controls?

If the rest of the dash is light up then check the bulbs in the heat panel face plate I can't c it being anything more if the rest of the dash is light up

Your check engine light is located in your vehicles dash cluster and will only illuminate when a fault is detected..no detected faults..no light, although it should illuminate (to prove it is working) for a short period of time at each engine start up.

If your light does not confirm operation during the start cycle, explore for access to the lights wiring connector behind the instrument panel cluster to see if you can easily remove the lamp from the cluster...sometimes it it easier to remove the dash trim bezels and remove the cluster from the dash to change lamps.

Of course your Toyota's engine management systems are controlled by an computer generally referred to as a ECM (engine control unit (ECU), also commonly called an engine control module) so if your lamp fails to illuminate during the start cycle the problem may not be due to a simple lamp failure.

It's not clear that the two outages are related. Check the fuses for both. The tail lamp bulb could be burned out - it's difficult to access the bulbs from inside the trunk sometimes, but it can be done. Many times if the socket is deformed from age or excessive heat, you can replace the socket. If not, the entire tail lamp assembly will need to be replaced - it's common on that age and model.

Power is supplied to the instrument illumination by the "TAIL/ILLUM LIGHT" fuse, Fuse #4 (15 Amp) located in the dash fuse block under the left side of the dash. This fuse provides power for both the primary and secondary sides of the TAIL LIGHT relay. The Combination (Headlamp) switch provides a ground path for the primary circuit of the TAIL LIGHT relay. When the primary circuit is completed by the Combination switch, the secondary contacts close and provide power to the tail lamps as well as to all of the instrument illumination bulbs. The ground for the instrument illumination bulbs is a variable-resistance circuit which is controlled by the illumination controller. The final ground for both the combination switch and the illumination controller is Ground G302, located under the center console.

Dash lights (illuminations) are 4 bulbs inside the cluster and controlled by the rheostat (intensity acjustment switch/wheel). The other Dash Lights (Check Engine, Airbag, Battery, Brake, etc.) are controlled by different microcomputers/modules. If you are only referring to 'illuminations' (4 bulbs), the issue might simply be the bulbs are burned out or the connection to them (connector(s) in back of the cluster may be oxidized/loose.

This sounds obvious, but first things first. Replace the bulbs, and check the tail lamp fuse. Usually if the tail lamp fuse is blown, your dash illumination will also not work. They put them on the same fuse because you really never see your tail lamps while you are driving, and if your dash lights are out, it will alert you to a problem.

call your local hyundai dealer, ask for "parts" they can get you the bulbs you need.

Maybe if all the lights don't work but if only the heating control lights its more then likely the bulb for the controls or the wiring to the bulb. You will need to pull the HVAC panel out to check (check fuses anyway first) but i do not believe there is a fuse for HVAC illumination only..

Had a similar problem and fixed it by installing a new headlight switch / turn signal lever. Hope this helps.

The controls for fan speed, temp and air flow are contained in a self-contained control module attached to the center dash. To get to the lights, you have to remove the center dash unit (refer to the 1st diagram for removal). Once the center dash is removed, turn it over and you will see three bulbs (you will actually see the base of the bulbs--refer to the 2nd attachment for illustration).
Simply remove the bulbs with a narrow blade, flat screwdriver. The Mopar Part Number for the bulbs is: 50138115AA. I paid about $2.25 for each bulb. Let me know if you need more info.
