If some one has ripped out the wires from the lift gate the may have shorted to groung causing fuses to blow. Check your owners manual th see which fuses might have blown.
The manual should describe what controls each fuse protects.
well I know of a rear brake cylinder, which goes between the rear brake shoes, Or there is a junction where both rear brake lines meet, and the one from the brake master cylender all come togeather to create equal brake pressure across each side.
It is a brake load sensoing valve that applies more pressure to the rear brakes as you load the vehicle. It is $375 from tascafordparts.com. Get one from the junk yard or just bypass it.
usually just the lines are leaking and can be replaced.
Valve, Brake Load Sensor Proportioning
The Villager has a brake load sensor proportioning valve (2B547) that is mounted on the vehicle frame and connected to the rear axle housing (4010) .
When the vehicle is unloaded, the brake load sensor proportioning valve closes and partially reduces hydraulic pressure to the rear wheel cylinders (2261) . As the vehicle is loaded, the weight presses down the back end of the vehicle on the rear springs (5560) . This activates the brake load sensor proportioning valve which opens and supplies more hydraulic pressure to the rear wheel cylinders . When the vehicle is fully loaded, the brake load sensor proportioning valve is fully open and provides full hydraulic pressure to the rear wheel cylinders .

it's called the brake/tail lamp socket assemby. Buy on ebay or new from tascafordparts.com.
Do not buy used as they wil have same problem as yours. Usually the tiny springs get weak and the sockets make a poor connection to the bulb contacts and overheat.
I have a 2001 Sienna and have had to replace most of my tail light bulbs.
The bulbs that are mounted in the fender (wrap arounds) have acess panels in the van's interior that easily pop out and expose the back of the light assembly.
However, the bulbs that are found in the lift gate are a different matter. You have to remove the whole interior panel to the lift gate to expose the light assemblies. Go to your auto parts store and get a tool to help pop out the plastic retainers from the lift gates metal frame. Don't force the retainers out. Go slowly and gently so that you don't damage the interior panel. If you are really gentle you might even get to reuse the retainers.
Hello
The sensor your looking for is on the latch for the lift gate
you will need to remove the lift gate panel to access this it has a single wire switch

I own a 2003 venture, all the back lights stopped working except the one above lift gate.I changed circuit boards and everthing worked fine this was in feb.Now six months later(august)I had to order another board this one shorted out and melted the part that plugs into the board(does anyone know what the name of that part is?)
Open the lift gate in the rear fo the vehicle. There are two rubber covers on either side next to the lights. Remove them on both sides, there you will find the the screws that need to come out to replace your light covers and light bulbs
