I have a 2001 land rover discovery ii. It will not stay running. I want to change the fuel filter but can't locate it. Is it in the tank or under the back right passenger seat? Also where is the fuel filter located?thanks
For Land Rover Discovery 1999-2004 no more external Fuel Filter serviceable anymore...it's a built-in part with the fuel pump. so if you want to change the filter then change the whole fuel PUMP.
I was told by a land rover mechanic that you can also use brake clean to clean the filter instead of replacing the whole pump..
That's right...but you need to take off the Fuel Pump Assy. from the Fuel Tank in order to do the job you are trying to .....to take off the fuel pump then you need to open the tail door then remove the carpet and then you'll find a Plate centralized the Vehicle...unscrew it and then you'll see the fuel pump...

No filters on DIIs. But your pump is located through a black colored metal hatch cover under the rear loading area carpet (sort of right in the middle) of the tank or loading area. You'll have to either pull up the rear deck carpet, and remove all the side bits to do so ; or cut an access into the carpet to get to the panel which gives you access to the in tank pump. I just did this last week on another DII .
