automatic or stick mine was STICK
4wd or not, , we can not guess drive-trains, ever. why not post VIN?
the pickup with odd name,had one, super long ago. 86:(4wd+v6)

RL is pure hydra matic
REL is electroncs
so you luck out on TCM there is no TCM here at all
so is more swap worthy.
the problem huge is, 4wd
and transmssions can have mounts very differnet,
even the bell can different from I4 to I6 or even for other brands of cars. learn to ask rebuilder this. they sure know this and it is complex.

Hi Robert,I have 85 Nissan 4x4,know these Nissan's very well,you stated your clutch fluid in reservoir was empty,which means your clutch slave cylinder is bad and leaking.It's located on the side of transmission with 2 bolts holding it on,may have fluid on it,they use brake fluid.Here's a guide on how to replace,here's the part,very easy to replace.You can fill up with fluid and bleed to get you where you need to go,will hold up temporary,best to get a bleeder kit at Autozone to bleed.

if its automatic transmission check the transmision flued,level,seals might be corroded,and flued leaked out, causes lack of presure in the transmision hydrolick system,or the clutch plates inside the transmission are slipping cuase of hardening

HI there unfortunately that is the correct solution
the reverser gear fork or reve gear syncros
are both inside trans housing
You should sand trans out and all the gear checked
and replaced not just reverse gear ok

The torque converter is attached to the flywheel or in this case possibly a starter ring gear plate attached to the rear of the crankshaft. There should be between 4 and 6 bolts to remove it. It is separate from the transmission. Please rate this answer, thanks.

It is fixable,go to a certified shop to fix it.Remember the warranty.

Hey I have a 1991 Nissan pathfinder 4*4 and I just had this transmission put in it runs good but I'm worried that it wasnt put in right and the reason is the power switch blink when you turn on the car what is wrong with it and even with the old one did that

I assume this is an automatic transmission. Is it a twin turbo or a non-turbo model? It sounds like you've lost fourth gear and are stuck in 3rd - those RPM would be about right. If you can provide more information, it will probably help in the diagnosis.
