Abs modules work very hard. by the age of your car it seems that the abs module is packing up. the abs system has sensors on all four wheels that figures out braking, stability and control of the car when cornering. these do brake down over time and is part of the wear and tear side of things. you don't need to buy a new one. they do overhaul these things for much cheaper. your car magazines should advertize the fixing of these things or contact a scrapyard for a secondahand one. check if the abs sensors are not faulty and replace them. do not go to the agents, they will rip you off. good luck

2000 Jaguar xj8 turn over won't start stability control fail light on.

the stab light comes on if the battery is low because you are cranking the engine your aj26 v8 engine may have a common problem for cars up to that model/year with worn nicosil coated bores ie. low compression check the vin no. at your jag dealer you can get it started by removing the spark plugs and putting a egg cup of engine oil in to each of the cylinders the first thing to do is to check for fault codes using a obd code reader for a clue followed by a compression test

I have a 2002 jaguar vanden plas. The amber engine light stays light. The car performs fine with no other messages. I have hand a tune up at 38,000 miles at the local jaguar dealership. The car only...

The red light is for warning the amber is for caution so your caution light is on thats the amber the amber is reserved for local market like brake pads, oil change,or abs that affects steering stability, The information is exclusive only your driver handbook will define it

Failsafe engine mode light on. reasons why. xj308 v8 1998

My 1999 Jag XJ8 did the same thing when the cruise control was activated (red button by the gear shift), but I wasn't actually using the cruise control. I deactivated the cruise control and the fail safe message no longer appears.

Stability control fail Jaguar XJ8

this may sound crazy but what sort of fuel are you running? Try filling the car with premium 98 octane and run it - if you are running inferior grade or dirty fuel the throttle body sensors will register a differential in the burn/energy and throw a fault. The bad news is that a faulty throttle body will cause the same problem and cost a fortune to replace.

Jaguar codes

thats interesting, the pecus lighting up on your dash means a control module wasnt fully programed, or in the process of being programed. ive only seen that pecus warning light once when a module failed to download the proper information. The low oil light and this pecus fault are not related.

The only way to get that light off is to bring it to a jaguar dealership.

In my case went this happened to me i was performing a recall that had me go though this download process. Now, if this problem applies to the recall then jaguar will pay for the repair and all you have to pay for is the diagnosis fee which is different with any dealership.

You can check on-line, for have the dealership look to see if their are any recalls on your vehicle.

ABS Light And Stability controll light

The most likely root cause of the problem has been determined, and its step by step fix is also detailed if you have the skills to do that yourself. See the excellent detailed website posting by Dan Jensen on the Jag-lovers.org site forums.jag-lovers.org under avsn.php?1169101j41 . He describes what goes wrong in the $2800 ABS control electronic board, and that simply re-soldering a few heavy wires to the board will fix the trouble. But it requires some mechanical work to get that module out, and then some more work to saw the plastic case apart to get to that circuit board. - Best regards - MHH
