This may be a long shot, but it's what the problem was on my '95. My pickup would overheat very quickly. I replaced the thermostat, radiator cap, hoses, flushed the radiator, even replaced the water pump, but it would still overheat. (I used to carry a gallon of water just to make it back and forth to work -- 30 miles.) Then I noticed some gouges in the plastic seat of the radiator tank -- where the cap seats. The cap was not able to keep the system pressurized, so when it reached "normal" operating temperature, it would begin to boil the water out. Using a grinder, I resized a large flat washer to fit in the filler neck and bonded it it place with silicone rubber. I haven't had a bit of problem since.
