Need help getting multiple misfire and camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor

You are getting cam & crank sensor errors along with multiple misfires and you suspect the timing chain? Or PCM? You must have already done some other things to believe this, since either the cam or crank sensor malfunctioning can cause multiple misfires.

Code P0016 cam shaft

Hi Reggie, That means you have a problem with the cam shaft pickup sensor and will result in problems starting and / or misfiring. Remove and clean the sensor or replace it and then clear the fault code. The evhicle should then perform as it should. Regards John

I have a 2005 F150 w/ 5.4. The following doces are reading on a scan: P0012, P0021, P0345, P0349, P0307. I do have a miss at times and rough idel. Any help would be appreciated

P0012 says the cam shaft signal is over retarded on bank 1, P0021 says that the cam shaft timing on bank 2 is over advanced. P0345 and P0349 means your cam shaft sensor cannot be read. Finally cylinder 7 (P0307) has a misfire. Changing your camshaft sensor would be a good start and then have the codes cleared. Switching the car on and off 5 times or disconnecting the battery negative terminal for 10 minutes will often clear the codes. With any luck everything will be resolved by the new cam shaft sensor. If the misfire is still present remove the spark plug and inspect it. If the plug is OK check out the HT lead and connection to see if there are any shorts.

Check engine light on. has dtc of p1309. what could it be? I replaced cam sensor but code is still there.

Code PO1309 : Misfire Monitor Failure Description : When the misfire monitor is disabled, usually due to the input signal generated by the camshaft position sensor, by sensing the passage of teeth from the camshaft position wheel. Possible Causes : PCM(power train control module), Mass Air Flow Sensor, Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, Crank Shaft Position Sensor, Camshaft Position Sensor.

Sevice engine light indicates a misfiring but engine runs smoothly? Mechanics replaced a sensor but the light comes on again after a couple miles.

Ask them what the code is that is stored. If it is a P0340 it maybe the camshaft sensor which usually is destroyed by the sync shaft. I am a Ford Motor Company Master tech. here to help. No flashing of the light means a misfire event is not present. If they replaced the cam sensor and sync. shaft but it is not timed correctly the code will reset.
