02 Nissan Sentra GXE, 5speed. Turn the key, the engine cranks, but doesn't fire. I tried pulling the fuel pump fuse out, and tried starting like that to see maybe if the system was flooded, but no start still. Spark plugs would be the next thing to check, but how do I get access to them, and what am i looking for? Anything else that can be done?

I had a friend tow the car for a few hundred meters, and with the key in the On/Acc position, I cycled through gears 1 and 2 and let go of the clutch. This indicated a little more than a 1000 rpm on the car while i was being towed. We stopped, and I turned the key, and the car started fine!

Now i'm thinking is it just something that the engine needed to burn off w/out fuel, and having the engine turn without actually running it helped achieve the state? FIRST U NEED TO MAKE SURE THE FUEL PUMP IS COMING ON IF U THINK ITS A FUEL PROBLEM. WHEN U TURN THE KEY TO THE ON POSITION LISTEN FOR 3 SECOND HUM. THIS MAY BE A CRANK OR CAM SENSOR PROBLEM.
