If the system is a Manual ( not the EATC / Electronic Automatice Temperature Control System ) it is most likely the blower motor resistor.

For the new body style 2004 ( not the 2004 Heritage or Lightning models ), it is behind the glove box.
Open teh glove box, press on one side, to allow the glove box to hang down.
The Blower motor resistor is located in the side of the blower motor housing.



If your 2004 is a Heritage or Lightning, the blower motor resistor is access from under the dash / glove box area.


On this type ( same as the 97-03 ) the blower motor resistor or the resistor and pigtail might need to be replaced.


Just pay attention to which body style 2004 you have ( new like the 2005-2008 or the 2004 Heritage / Lightning, which looks like the 97-03 MY trucks.

I think any parts store can get it for you.

But if you asking for location of the component , then it's a different story.
All b/m resistors(any car) located around blower motor or in the air duct after blower motor, they need to be vented all the time , otherwise they overheat and blow. Wires from motor are going to resistor , so if you trace the wires you'll find resistor.

The blower resistor is fastened in a hole in the plenum very near the blower. It will either be under the glovebox inside or under the hood near the firewall.

I't's about two inches square with an electrical connector on it.

your blower motor resistor is bad, it is a small electrical component located next to the blower motor under the dash, held it with two screws.

Look up under dash on passenger side & you should see wires (2) going up to blower motor, follow them back to connector with numerous wires in duct work. Your resistor should be there held in by 2 small screws with hex heads.

1.disconect battery
2. remove lower right undre panel silencer duct
3. remove the blower moter connector from the resistor block
4. squeeze the blower moter wiring gromment and push the gromment throw the blower moter housing cover
5. remove blower moter housing
6.romove the screws holding the blower moter down
to put back on do the steps back werds

try checking out your blower speed control resistors. follow your power wire from blower to the resistors, to locat, should be in duct in front of blower for cooling. I hope this helps, if the resistors pack is good only think else is a bad switch
