It's most likely the blower motor resistor or relay. My money is on the resistor. It's a pretty common issue on all makes and models of vehicles. I'm not sure where yours is located. Domestic cars and trucks have them on the top of the blower motor housing which is behind the glove box on the passenger side. A few torx bit screws remove the box liner, and a socket removes the couple of nuts holding the resistor on. Other than that, it's just a pigtail wire harness that plugs into it. Pretty easy job. The resistor for your vehicle (96 Saab 900 SE) is $53.99 locally here in Minnesota.

My saab 900 se t. 96 wont go into reverse and the shifter is very sloppy

I am not a mechanic, although I have worked on cars in the past' I think by your description, the problem lies in you linkage between the shifter and transmission.

nice thing about disk brakes is they are self adjusting, if the pedal is going low you have a problem and should have them checked

sounds like your heater core has a leak in it. take your sunroof off and get some rubber revitalizer at a glass shop. Try cleaning it and using the rubber rejuvenator on it.

How do I replace the clutch in a 1996 Saab 900 SE?

Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder What you describe is that you cannot disengage the clutch when you step on the pedal. This occurs if you are low on fluid or the clutch release bearing has collapsed. If the bearing is bad, it should have made noises before this. Let me know. I will check back. Moe

2.3 900 se fan belt

The Saab fan is electrically controlled directly via the ECU and has no belt. I will therefore assume you are referring to the accessory belt that drives the power steering pump, the alternator, AC, etc. Pictures and step by step instructions are here and here. Both of these sites are also demonstrating the use of a shorter belt to bypass a center idler pulley that fails frequently (and that was eliminated altogether by Saab in the transition from new generation 900s to the first iteration of the 9-3 model).

Running noise in the dash, runs down a new battery

Ah ha! The intake valve for the interior temp. control was continuing to run after the engine was off. It was making noise (like a running fan). I removed it. So what the auto temp does not work. It is an old car... if you get hot turn down the air, if you get cold, turn up the heater. Removing this did not affect the effectiveness of the heat or air.
