After I have driven my truck for about 15 minutes, and stop the oil pressure gauge shows zero
If I apply a samll amout of gas the gauges moves back up.
Normay driveing (Not Highways) the gauge reads about halfway.
There is fresh oil and a filter.
When the gauge reads zero the engins sound normal
Perform a master oil pressure test. this is done by removing the oil pressure sending unit and installing a oil pressure gauge. if the reading on the test gauge is ok, the sending unit needs to be replaced. if the pressure reads low on the test gauge, there may be excessive bearing wear or you may have worn valve guides. good luck!

im sorry there is no pressure off.
running pressure is low because.
1: wrong oil, or AF in oil, or brake fluid from jiffyboobs. or water.
2: fuel in oil , bad bad bad.
3: dumping additives it it. bad.
4: BEARINGS IN ENGINE SHOT. (warn bad)
5: THE GAUGE FIB'S.
I NEVER NEVER NEVER trust car gauges, i use MINE>(in hand)
i also test my hand gauges, (ask)
It sounds like the oil pressure switch has failed. It is only an on/off switch that trips at about 15 - 17 PSI, the reading displayed on the dash is created by the computer based on the pressure switch being closed and the engine RPM.
That is normal, many vehicle normal pressure is 50 psi and minimum is 15. The pressure you have is good,Its high but good, some high oil pressure will cause the lifter to solidify and then a misfire will occur, and again this is very rare.many oil pump in yester year car was driven by a worm gear attatch to a distributor, and it is still but without the distributor. So the oil pump is driven the same way and is monitored by the oil pressure sensor,(when oil pressure is low the light will go off then you would know you got a problem). The faster the car is driven the more lubrication its going to need so the oil is buid up at the same time engine demands are high. You dont have anything to worry about enjoy the car come on its a Corvette. Just make sure the level is good and change when its needed.
check it out manually with a pressure gauge ,could just be a high resistance or something ,but check with a manual dial gauge and if low check put the oil pump
If the oil light and the gauge is showing low to zero pressure then you need to have the pressure checked by someone with a mechanical gauge to varify the pressure is low. Is the oil level at the full mark? I have seen where the oil pickup tube o ring gets hard over time and cracks which can allow the oil pump to draw in air and cause low oil pressure. If you run the engine with very low oil pressure for any length of time there is a chance that the engine may need to be replaced due to lack of lubrication. The chevrolet dealerships still provide very good service. Hope this helps.
If the valve lifters are quiet you most likely have oil pressure even with gauge showing "0".Sounds like the oil pressure switch going bad.I would try that first.
Could be oil pump, also could be sending unit. When did you last change oil, is oil low? If it's been a while try putting in high mileage oil with higher viscosity, 20w50 for example
if your oil pressure gauge is reading low, the sensor, instrument cluster gauge or the pump is bad. remove sensor and use an oil pressure test gauge. reading should be measured and verified against manufactures specs. if the pump is bad, damage to the engine will result.
You could try thicker oil or stop using synthetic or add some lucas oil treatment or change the oil. The sender could be bad too. A diag is in order because if there is no presure the engine will soon die.
It sounds like most likely its your Oil pump, if you have no pressure at stop and when you hit gas it sets the C/E light off, Guages in dash wont set off Check Engine Light. Replace Oil Pump.
