I wouldn't more likely to think there is an issue with the crank sensor as they are more common for causing a no start condition. They should have also triggered a check engine light a while back.
The first thing you should do is check for fuel pressure and spark. If you have no spark than the crank/cam sensor would be a reasonable start. If there is no fuel pressure than you would need to make sure the fuel pump is getting power and has a good ground before replacing it.
There are some mechanical issues that can cause a no start condition as well.
When you push the brake pedal do the rear brake lights come on?
Check that next time it does not start.
You may need a simple brake light switch adjustment.
