I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 ltr V8 and it is using coolant, no obvious sign's or leaks.ie; split hoses,hole in radiator or any coolant sprayed over engine after driving or any coolant on the ground when parked, and no sign of coolant in the oil.It overheated on me twice since I have had it (one week)and I had to wait for an hour or more to add coolant to it before I could drive again. I have replaced the radiator cap with a brand new one,and that has made no differance.

could be head gasket leaking if there are no obvious leaks from hoses,gaskets,radiator etc

Trace the upper radiator hose toward the Grand Cherokee's engine until you reach the metal component connecting the hose to the engine -- this is the thermostat housing. Find the coolant temperature sensor -- the electrical component on the thermostat housing. Press the locking button on the coolant temperature sensor wiring harness and pull the wiring harness from the sensor, then remove sensor it screws out. when putting in new sensor coat the threads with teflon pipe thread tape so there is no leaks.

3. Remove thermostat housing mounting bolts, thermostat housing and thermostat.

coolant come in two versions mixed and unmixed, in unmoixed use half coolant and half water, you can add coolant yourself but do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot, its under pressure and dangerous, any good brand coolant will do, then have the system checked for leaks

try a product called radweld(works like egg white).could just be hose/clip .if oil getting contaminated then you have a head problem.

Front drivers side could be a bad cap, lower hose or the radiator itself. You need to look carefully and find the leak source. Steam travels and isn't a good indication of where the actual leak is coolant will run down and take any path it can to reach the ground. Therefore, you need to follow it back to where it is coming from, then deal with it. Your water pump can also leak and run down the lower hose. there is a small hole in the pump behind the pulley. If you see coolant coming from there the pump needs to be replaced. Sealers will not work on hoses or pump leaks so don't bother using them for that.

the belt either cut a gash in the bottom radiator hose or damaged the water pump!! or knocked a pin hole in the radiator which i seen that happen many times on jeeps

Radiator removal is not that difficult but too long to write out. Pretty much it involves removing the brace above the radiator and any fans, hoses and lines attached to it. When re-filling do so with heater on full hot to allow coolant to circulate fully through system. I prefer to run engine to the point that temp is at about 200, then turn it off for a few minutes, the thermostat will then open and you can re-start and begin filling again.

Replace the radiator cap. If it is working properly it will pull coolant from the bottle, if it isn't pulling coolant then it isn't holding pressure and leaking. The gushing water sound is a sign of low coolant.

No, what you're seeing is the weep hole leaking on the water pump. This is the warning sign that the water pump is worn out. Don't use any stop leak or anything to attempt to stop it. You'll be waisting your time. You'll have to replace water pump at this point.
