Have your alternator checked yet? Your alternator is what actually powers all of your devices and lights when the car is running. When it is failing it will cause lights to dim. Checking connections, fuses and your alternator should lead you to a good start! Good luck!
If it dropped below freezing, you may have water freezing solid somewhere in the fuel system; try a bottle or two of "Dry Gas" and while the vehicle is running, it should mix with the water and get it out of the system!
We had this same problem after my brother hooked up jumper cables backwards. We had to replace computer boaord under the driver side dash. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. lol But someone who can hooked that up and get the codes can tell you if it needs to be replaced. I found mine on ebay....they are Hard to find!
Check and see if your alternator is charging Low voltage will cause those lights to come on, as the computer is shutting down.
To check your alternator you will need a volt meter... WITH the engine running you should have about 14 volts coming out. IF NOT you need to replace the Alternator!
It may have something to do with your headlights, but my first thought is they are just a symptom of another problem.
I'd check on the alternator. If the ALT fails, a good battery will keep the car running for quite a while. Sometimes the first symptoms are the dimming of the headlights. So:
Make sure belts are tight.
Get a meter and test the output voltage while its running (be careful when doing this).
Check the voltage at the battery when stopped and when running.
Same thing with headlights on and off.
Get back to me with the results. Once the alternator is ruled out we can check a possible headlight problem. But this way, at least you won't be stranded somewhere with a dead battery.
Pull instrument/ cluster panel and re-melt cold solder joints where circuit board connects to dash connectors. Get them hot enough to turn them bright silver, usually 3-5 seconds each pin.
Good Luck!
i checked all of the fuses under the dash and all were ok.
