Won't crank????? Starter motor probably. Crank but won't run...fuel pump, crank sensor, coil pack and/or computer.
could also be the relay sending full juice to the starter motor.

95 bmw 525i no dash lights no tach no tremp gauge and fuel gauge pegged way past full

Why was the battery missing to begin with? I would start by checking all fuses under dash and Central hub. Check for burned in-line fuses,if any, coming off of battery cables.

My 2003 bmw 525i has no crank no start no NOTHING problem

not a BMW expert but had this same problem, it has to be very near the battery, best advice is follow the 12 volts out and look first for a bad cable (positive is more common but neg can do it) that is broken inside, In my case it was right where the Pos cable came off the battery, 2 inches away at T junction where the cable splits and there were two cables ---voltage the battery and not four inches to the left of it.

A volt meter will save a lot of time.

2004 325xi BMW wont start - replace spark plugs and fuel pump

If u hear the engine cranking in the AM, the batt & alt sound good. If you don't get any engine cranking in the am you may have an electrical short draining the battery. Before u convict the starter u must make sure the battery has full power in the AM. (12V) & 12 V to the starter
