It could be serious, or it could be very minor. The check-engine light simply means that something has happened and has set a code or codes indicating a failure or problem with something in the engine. Go to AutoZone and ask them to scan the computer (it's free, and a shop will charge an hour's labor to do this). To be completely honest, I know so few about the 2005 BMW's, but the battery location should be simple.

Typically they are located under the hood, usually by one one ofthe hood hinges. However, BMW has been know to put some of them in thetrunk (E46 325i). I have also seen some of them below the rear seat as well (Serie 3). Thebattery may have a cover over it, so it may be a little harder to see.

the problem could also be your radiator cap and you need to make sure that you don,t have an air bubble in the system you also have to have the right amount of anti freeze in it but try the cap first seems so simple but it is a good possibility. hope this helps

it's normal, windshield wipers in bmws are connected to the speedometer since the old E36 3series, so they stop whenever you stop your car. If they start again once the car moves there's nothing wrong with your car!
