2005 Pontiac Sunfire A/C compressor always on when switch is pressed, never cycles on and off and even runs with temp control in full hot... any help? I was wondering if the compressor or pressure switch could be bad or something else entirely.

I know the pulley is supposed to spin. The clutch is engaged.

How do you know the AC compressor is always on?
It is always supposed to spin you know.
It is just that there is a clutch that lets the pulley freewheel on the shaft, and the compressor does not then spin even though the pulley is spinning.
But if you were very low on freon, it would also engage the clutch all the time as well. You need to put a gauge on the high side of the pump.

If the AC clutch always stays engaged, then I would say it would not likely be the compressor.

    Does it blow cold air?

If so, then I would say it was the dash board control unit, which I think is microprocessor controlled.

But yes, it could be the pressure switch or really low on freon I suppose.

Check the sight glass in the top of the receiver/dryer to see if there are bubbles or clear liquid?

2004 sunfire cooling is always on when the car is running

The cooling fan is controlled by a temperature switch located on the radiator or on the engine. When the temperature of the coolant exceeds the switch temperature rating, the switch closes and energises a relay that switched a voltage to run the fan and it will continue to run until the coolant temperature drops back below the opening point of the switch. In your case, you may need to have the cooling fan replaced.

2006 Ion, a/c cycles cold to hot when driving why, it goes back and forth

Depends on if the ac is cutting off or if the air flow is changing.
If the compressor is cutting off it could be a faulty relay or pressure switch - even the compressor clutch. Might be something with the radiator fan too.
If the compressor is running and you get hot air, it could be a problem with a blend door under the dash.

I have seen these cars have a lot of problems with the cooling fans. even though they may work, they may not be spinning fast enough. the other problem is the collant temp sensor. make sure you are burping all the air out of the vehicle before toghtening radiator cap or resevior cap

A/C air sometimes cold, sometimes not on VW Beetle 2001 Turbo

AC will not work with temps are cold even when it is turned on. The air is colder cause the temp is colder. The AC cycles in hot weather because the AC charge is low and needs recharging. You will know this if you open the hood run the AC and you will hear the clicking sound of the AC compressor magnetic clutch. You can recharge it easily buy buying a compatible can of refrigerant. I suggest buying the kit with the gage so you don't overcharge the system which will cause freeze ups

Car runs hot

CHECK YOUR RELAY IN YOUR FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE INNER FENDER. THE A/C AND THE HEATER RELAY ARE SAME. CHECK AND SEE IF THE A/C REALY WORKS BY TURNING ON YOUR A/C SWITCH. THE ELECTRIC FAN SHOULD START RIGHT AWAY. OTHERWISE YOU HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE ENGINE ACHEIVES OPERATING TEMP TO KICK THE FAN ON. IF ONE DON'T WORK AND OTHER OTHER DOES... SWITCH THE RELAY AND SEE IF IT WORKS. BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT. $9.00 FOR A NEW RELAY AT CHECKER AUTO PARTS.
