Are you certain it is the oil pump? Have you checked the actual oil pressure with a guage? There are other things that could cause low oil pressure, such as the pressure relief valve. I would get a manual on the car. This should tell you all you all you need to know, including how to change the oil pump, if that is indeed necessary. I'm not certain if you can pull the pan on that car without pulling the engine. Some you can, but you have to support the engine while you remove the cross member. Again, a book will show you the easiest way. I hope I have been helpful.
Should be inside the timing cover. You remove the timing cover to access the pump parts. Not really a pump assembly like pumps mounted inside oil pans. I doubt the pump is faulty. Have you checked the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge ?
Check to see if there's power at the fuel pump when cranking the engine. If no power, check the relay and oil pressure sender switch. If the engine looses oil pressure, it stops the fuel pump from running to protect the engine. The relay is located on the firewall above the master cylinder.
Are you sure it's your oil pump and not just a faulty oil sensor. Don't know if you have a V6 or a V8 so can't really help you more on where the sensor's are.
note: you get your oil pressure from the crankshaft and the oil pump really brings the oil to the top of the engine to keep it simple.
Good luck and hope this keeps it really simple and save's you money.
You will have to remove the front cover of the engine to get to the pump. You can use Auto Zones repair info section on their website to see a basic drawing. If you have an understaning of engines, and okay mechanic skills this website should help you replace the pump.
