SOURCE: Replacing speakers in Mitsubishi Galant

If the car is an 03 galant it is very simple to remove.
DRIVER SIDE:
Remove the window crank if it is not Electric Window.
Remove the Screw that holds the "Open Door Handle" cover.
Remove the Screw that holds the "Pull Handle Pocket"
Remove both plastic covers.
Remove all 3 hidden crews that have a plastic cover over them.
One is toward the front of the door top and the other two are toward the rear of the door top and bottom side.
Carefully pry around the door trim panel to disengage it from th retaining clips, along the sides and bottom. If you have electric windows, disconnect the if from the door trim to access the speaker. Same procedure for both doors.

SOURCE: Front door speakers

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

Replace front speakers

You would have to open the door panel to replace front speakers. Look for any screws around the door handle. look at the whole door panel for any screws so that you may remove the panel in order to reach the speakers. once the panel is free from any visible screws, use a door panel remover ($5-10) and use it to pry off the panel, use it around the door panel push-in connectors, and don't use extreme force, may break connectors. once the connectors around the whole panel are removed. make sure your window is down before the whole procedure. then pick up the panel from the bottom (push up), then the panel should be off the door, if you want to change the speakers, you don't need to take any of the wiring to the window/door lock. simply remove the cover if any over the stock speakers, usually some screws. once the cover/screws are off. the speaker should come off. You will see two wires off the speakers (the red(positive) the black(negative)), once the stock speaker is removed, simply attatch the new speaker to the wires. make sure the negative and positive from the car DO NOT TOUCH, you WILL short circuit and blow a fuse, maybe worse, and it's not worth the time fixing. hope this helps, good luck.

I need to know how to get to the door speakers before i break anything. i dont know if you can take the speaker cover off or if yoy have to take off the door panel.

If you want to replace the speakers, you will have to remove the door panel. Removing the cover will only allow you to clean the cover or remove any foreign matter from the speaker cone.
