ac compressor clutch coil open or short. wire cut or open to ac clutch.2 wires one is ground the other power, remove connector ac compressor then probe with test light between the two wire
Normally I would say the a/c compressor is pulling on the engine causing a cylinder miss. The miss is probably there all the time, just worse with the a/c running. But it should do it when in a/c mode too. The compressor runs in defrost mode to dry the air blowing on the windshield. I would check for a bad spark plug or plug wire.
This will happen when the clutch in the starter drive is bad. You indicate you replaced the starter. Was it a new, reman or used unit? We would usually replace the starter drive assembly to correct this condition.
Air conditioner system is
discharged. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by an
MVAC certified technician, utilizing approved recovery/recycling
equipment. Repair as necessary.
Air conditioner compressor clutch
not engaging. Check compressor clutch wiring, electrical connections
and compressor clutch, and repair or replace as necessary.
I pulled this from another web site
"The AC clutch relay is located inside the cab on a metal bracket that is easiest to see when you remove the glove box compartment.
The relay is on a metal bracket bolted to the top of the plastic air box, forward and to the center of the dash from glove box.
There are three relays in a row on that bracket. The AC clutch relay is the end one closest to the driver’s side."
If you have no power (12v) to the power wire at the A/C compressor clutch and have jumpered all of the switches then you need to check for power coming out of the A/C switch on the dash. Also there might be a pressure switch on the back of the compressor that you can jumper also. You can also check A/C compressor relay in the under hood fuse/relay box. There might be a fuse in the under hood fuse/relay box for the A/C too. Hope this helps.
