Hello my nissan altima does sudden jerks going in long distances. In town it works just fine. When it jerks sometimes I have to let go of the axe and press the clutch or reduce acceleration. Sometimes it would make me have to stop completely let it rest a few minutes then continue the journey. Thanks for your advice.

Does the steering wheel shake violently? Or are you talking about a different kind of shake or vibration?

Almost sounds like fuel filter. Check with your local auto shop. They should carry the part and show you where it is located on your vehicle. Good luck.

The tranny has quite a few solinoids that are electronic which sometimes burn out or fail with high mileage.
Hope this helps

2005 Nissan Altima jerks while driving, stops jerking when in neutral.

That usually happens if you're in too high a gear. If it also seems to accelerate slowly, you may have a fouled plug or other cause of a dead cylinder.
