You will need to back off the brake adjuster through the slot in the backing plate, ther are some threaded holes in the brake drum, find some bolts and screw into these to help push the brake drum off

The best way would be to remove the wheel and see if you have drums or discs. Disc brakes on the rear will look like the front brakes, as discs are required on the front of 1970 vehicles and newer. You will see the rotor which will be shiny where the pads have rubbed it. On a drum, it will look like a rusty metal bowl facing away from you. If you have custom wheels you may be able to see through the spokes, but dust guards will not let you tell from the back.
The only trick is banging it off. Drums are known to be "frozen" on or stuck. Honestly, the only way to get them off when they are stuck is to carefully hammer it off. Below is what is required to remove and replace the drum....and a picture of your system:
Removal & Installation
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
Remove the wheels.
Remove the brake drum from the axle hub.
To install:
Install the brake drum.
Install the rear wheels, tighten the wheel lug nuts.
Under normal circumstances, the drum should slide right off once the wheel is removed.
If you have built up rust holding it on, there are two threaded holes near the center of the drum to aid in removal. Insert two 12mm bolts into the holes and, while adding plenty of lubricant, turn the bolts in even amounts until they push the drum off. Be sure to keep them lubed, as they will strip out easily if not.
If you have aftermarket drums without the holes or the screwholes are stripped out, smacking the face of the drum with a dead blow hammer will help free it up, but takes much longer for success.
If your pads are completely gone then you may have damaged the drums if you still have any pads left or shoes if they are drum brakes then you still need to have your drums checked out for the proper size to still be there for the brakes to function properly. You won't know until you look at them or are shown them by a pro. who has measured and found them to be beyond reuse! If you had leaks then you will need to repair the brake calipers or the wheel cylinders depending on which system you have drum or disc they are different!!! Hope this helps someway !!

All corolla's have drum brakes. What you have to do is to take the rear wheels out pop a little rubber plug from the hub and insert an adjusting tool to rotate the adjusters.
there should be three or four large nuts on the inside of the drum. now these nuts are on realy good so it takes a lot of force to get it off if you have trouble getting it off you should get an extender to help with the force. Now with the break fluid going every were it could be cause you broke the metal tube.that is easy to replace. just follow it up and undo it.
to remove a stuck brake drum what I do is. there is a couple of holes in the drum a size 10mm nut screw hole. get two 10mm bolts screw it in the two OPPOSITE holes and screw in at the same time until the drum is free. we call this screws extractor. Check for any damage in the shoe and other parts because you are force extracting the drum
