Ck volts in battery with volt meter,, try jumping ?,,could be bad new starter,,or wires to starter,,

or it could be the alternator (or alternator loose fit on serpentine belt) and it only has enough juice to run the radio

My 99 monte carlo wont start the lights and radio work but the car wont start what do i do

If you have power but the starter won't engauge here are a few things to check 1 start at the fuse box check fuses. If the fuses are good check the starter. This time of year cold weather starters have more strain and burn out easier. Also exessive oil dripping on the starter can cause to go out because of residue build up in the starter. If the starter checks out good it is then a bad conection or wire. thanks

My 96 monte carlo wont start and i have changed the alternator and the starter and it still wont turn on

Check your ground cables. All the ground cables you can find. Most of the time there the black ones. Remove them one at a time and with a wire brush, clean them off. clean them really good then put it back on tightly. Mainly the one that goes from your battery to the engine block. i had the same problem.

96 chevy monte carlo 3.1 wont start

check to see if the wire is broken for the passlock/passkey system in the ignition lock cylinder, its common for the copper wire to seperate inside the insulation, when you tilt the column it could have been pushing the wires together enough to touch inside the insulation
