I have a camry model 97, I hear sound like air like whule accelarating the engine

Maybe check throttle body.

Open the hood. Listen for where the noise is coming from. Fix the thing that is making the noise.

Dirty or blocked air intake. engine trying to suck in air from wherever it canand because not enough air you get a rich fuel mixture that does not burn too well

There is a variety of causes possible:

- spark plugs fouled or worn (likely after about 50000 km)
- low fuel pressure (maybe)
- ignition timing not correct (an ECU problem, is there any check engine light?)
- air leak into the intake manifold (the most likely)

These engines develop a split in the big hose from the air cleaner to the air flow body. Look for that first.

Could be caused by a severely clogged air filter, gas filter or a failed throttle position sensor.

mass air flow sensor is the most likely cause but without having head under the bonnet its difficult to diagnose exactly

Often, that sort of humming is a wheel bearing. Since you have newer tires, and the noise gets louder when you steer, it could also be your CV joints, but the wheel bearing is the most likely suspect.

It sounds like detonation. This occurs when the air/fuel mixture ignites in the cylinder before it should. I can be caused by incorrect timing or even red-hot carbon deposits in the combusion chamber. I would tend to belived the 2nd suggestion as cars tend to run hotter in traffic.

Try running some Marvel Mystery oil in the gas. Use the recommended dilution on the bottle. If that doesn't work, GM top engine cleaner. It can be purchased at GM dealerships. Follow the directions on the can.

The timing belt is one tooth off. Pull the covers back off, set the engine to TDC and recheck your marks, and make sure that the tension is correct.
