1995 Chevy 1500 Z71...transmission only shifts from 1st to 2nd gear if you let off the throttle abruptly after getting the rpm up pretty high. Then after it shifts into 2nd it will shift normally.

It costs nothing to try this; check for cracked or disconnected vacuum lines. This is monitored to initiate shifting up. If the vacuum is low the transmission doesn't know when it is OK to shift.
It winds up in 1st and then shifts right from 1st into 3rd. Then never shifts into 4th. Plus rev is gone. You broke the sun shell. The transmission will need to rebuilt or replaced.
check the throttle valve cable adjustment. maybe set too tight if shift out of 1st is delayed. best is to have it diagnosed and adjusted by an automatic transmission shop specialist.
