Didital Instrument cluster; all guages work except

Digital Instrument cluster; all guages work except speedo, and the odo comes in and out with tapping the dash... Here in NC, to pass safety inspection, everything had to work... $250 minimum to fix, quoted from local GMC dealer

You might try to find another cluster from a wrecking yard and install it yourself. Otherwise, it sounds like they have you just where they want you. Good luck!

If the speedo work and the odometer doenst you'll have to get a new instrument cluster. If speedo and odo both dont work, its likely the vehicle speed sensor in the transmission.

Rev counter, speedo & sometimes fuel & temp guage not working
pull the instrument cluster out and check the printed circuit and connector to it from harness, plug it in and out three or four times, this may cure the problem.
