I have a rexton 290 turbo diesel. year 2005, automatic transmission. It has had a noise coming from the left side front wheel. The noise sounds like a metal to metal scratching noise. Light noise like a spring subbing against the rim when the wheel turns. However the noise is intermittent. It comes on at random. Nothing to do with pressing the brake petal or with accellerating. It seems independent of these. however it seems to come on when the steering is turned to the right. It is a very intermittent noise. It has been present since the last 3 years. now the noise is becoming more frequesnt and more pronounced. today it seems to have started to occur on the left wheel. Any idea of where it is coming from please.? it is driving me mad and no one seems to be able to resolve the problem.

Wheel bearing. A wheel bearing will make that noise when load is put on it. Changing the direction of travel could make it louder, or it could go away. Change the wheel bearings.

SOURCE: Noises problem 2006 Chevy Cobalt 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automati

Wow, sounds like a good one, my only suggestion would be, try changing or machining the brake rotor and double checking to make sure all the caliper hardware is torqued up tight. Possibly a tire? Try switching side to side.

SOURCE: Vibration and noise from front end while driving

Jack up the front end and put stands under it and block rear wheels. Look at axle boots and see if they are cracked. Try turning wheel back and forth sharply and see if you can hear any clicking. Problem could be outer axle joints. If the boots are cracked or you hear a clicking noise you will have to replace the axle. The axle and boot come as a complete unit. Please let me know what you find out.

You must replace wheel bearings in pairs to avoid loading the old bearing and, in time ruining your new bearing hub it is possible that you have already damaged the new hub

Is there a bearing or bushing on the shaft that the left axle slides onto on a 1999 Bonneville se?

i have been fooled by this one way to many times. when a wheel bearing or hub assesembly is making noise, it will sound like it is comming from the other side. i do not know why this is. but one test will prove if and which one. when growling noise occurs, notice, when turning left or right, does noise get louder and quieter as you turn? if so then it is wheel bearing. when turning left the right side will make more noise. when turning right the left side will make more noise. if always the same then, tires or transmission need addressing. the cv axle does not make a growling noise, unless front wheel drive car does not move, it makes a clicking or poping noise. sorry but at least you dont have to replace other axle

2005 F-150 sounds like front wheel bearing is bad. turn to the left and sound is bad. turn to the right and no noise

Looks like it's time for a right wheel bearing, or however many there are in the hub. I'm assuming you do not have a 4 wheel drive. Remember, if it makes noise when turning left, you are "loading" the right wheel bearing. ( Shifting more weight to the side inside your turn). Think this way. When turning left at a higher speed, the left tire might even come up off the ground! That puts all the weight on the right. If you've 4 wheel drive, could also be c.v. joints, or universal joints.

Where is the oils filter located on a Diesel Sangyong Texton 2005 Merc DXi270

The oil filter for the diesel Rexton is behind the engine block on the passengers side. If you remove the plastic engine cover and stand next to the passengers mirror, you will see the casing next to the firewall.
