I have 2002 trailblazer and the instrument panel keeps saying xheck gauges.then everything starts working again

Check gages means that one of the gages is reading an abnormal reading, like hot engine oil pressure issues, charging system voltage, pay attention next time it happens to the readings on the gages for something out of the normal

I see oil leaking from the bottom near the oil pan and oil pressure gauge goes up to 60 psi when pressing on gas petal. Any ideas?

{: ) The engine oil is the lifeblood of your engine, that's why it is very important to check the oil dipstick regularly for proper levels. You can deal about the oil pressure reading on the gauge later because there are many factors that can also affect its reading. For now you need to verify if the leak you observed was indeed engine oil, and if it is, you need to have it fixed right away. Obviously, an oil pan leak most likely caused by weakening gaskets. If ever you go for the repairs underneath the engine, that's also the perfect time to ask your mechanic to perform the oil pressure system test. Just to rule out some doubts, and if it will also match to your gage readings, after the repairs.

What is the check gauges light

CHECK GAGES light (1) indicates a potential engine failure(low oil pressure, low coolant, coolant overheating) has occurred.
· Check gages and shut down engine. Gages should read as follows: Oil pressure 5 to 10 psi (34 to 69 kPa) at idle; Water Temp gage below 230 degrees (110 C).
· Check engine oil level (Para 2-11) if OIL PRESS gage indicates low reading. Check coolant level (Para 2-11) if Water Temp gage indicates high reading. Notify Unit Maintenance if levels are low.

If CHECK ENGINE light (2) is on, check engine oil pressure gage (3) and water temperature gage (4). If both indicate normal, proceed with mission and then notify Unit Maintenance. If either one does not indicate normal, stop engine immediately and notify Unit Maintenance

What should a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville oil pressure gage read at

at what? depending on engine temp and rpm, normal oil psi should read 30-40 psi at idle and at cruising speed of 1500 to 2000 rpm should read 60-70 psi. most bonnevilles from 1992 to the last year run of 2005 have the 3.8 liter V6 which was updated over the years.

Oil pressure reading in 2003 gmc envoy

No problem with the oil pressure, the norm is between 40 to 60. Anything lower then 40 you have low oil pressure and anything above 60 then you have high oil pressure which is caused by a blockage in the system.
What is common is the oil pressure gage fluctuating for the first 200 miles if the oil pressure sending unit is getting worn. Good maintenance will keep the engine clean and running good but the oil pressure sending unit is inexpensive and easy to replace. Next time you do an oil change you can have them change the sending unit.
Good luck and hope this helps. You can pick up the sending unit at Auto Zone and most auto parts store and will have the step by step to replacing it. If you do attempt to replace it. make sure you DO NOT USE any Teflon tape or silicon on the threads, they are tapered and need a good ground to the engine for proper readings.

Oil pressure gage

At idle, at operating temp is there any ticking from top end of engine? Are there any knocking noises brom bottom end?
If no noises, change oil and add some Marvel oil to clean out galleys. If that dosent work, change oil pressure sendingf unit. Also, if you have a mechanical oil pressure gauge, hook it up and take a direct reading. Oil pressure (in any vehicle) at idle should NEVER be less than 15psi. Generally in 4.0 jeep engines it's never less than 30, with a high reading at driving rpm of about 40-60! (but, you did not mention what engine you have)
