I'd check the cruise control switchgear. The contacts are probably dirty. Take it apart hit it with some WD-40. Light rubbing with a pencil eraser will clean them up too.

Cruise control on 97 Buick LeSabre intermittently works...

If the cruise control on your 1997 Buick LeSabre is intermittently working, there are a few potential causes that you can check:

  1. Vacuum leaks: The cruise control system on your vehicle uses vacuum to operate, so if there is a leak in the vacuum lines, the system may not work properly. Check for any visible leaks and repair them if necessary.
  2. Throttle position sensor: The throttle position sensor (TPS) sends a signal to the cruise control system to tell it the position of the throttle. If the TPS is malfunctioning, the cruise control may not work properly.
  3. Servo Motor: The servo motor is responsible for engaging and disengaging the cruise control system. It may be that this motor is faulty or that the gears inside the servo motor have worn out.
  4. Speed sensor: The speed sensor sends a signal to the cruise control system to tell it the vehicle's speed. If the sensor is faulty, the cruise control may not work properly
  5. Vehicle Speed Control (VSC) module: This module is responsible for controlling the cruise control system. If it's malfunctioning, the cruise control system will not work correctly
It is highly recommended that you take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic to diagnose and repair the issue, as cruise control systems can be complex and require specialized knowledge and equipment to diagnose and repair.

Can't retrieve codes through dash an cruise control. Also cruise set resume switch does not seem to work.

It seems the pcm is detected a fault with the engine. Even if the problem goes away , the vehicle will have to go three drive cycles without engine faults before the cruise control use will be allowed by pcm.

Cruise control, 1992 Chevrolet K1500 pickup truck.

Terrible news for you, you may have already figured out.
These accessories are in the category of : " Be thankful it lasted this long " !
Now, about a fix.
Here are some of the things that have caused my cruise to stop working.
Check these out on yours.
1) The engine mounts got loose, affecting the adjustment of the cruise control to the throttle body.
2) The cruise throttle body got loose on the inner fender due to loose screws or out-of-adjustment brackets.
3) The brake pedal switch got loose and caused the cruise to think you were pressing the brake when you weren't.
4) The drive shaft sensor/magnet fell off because of old age. (The glue failed)
God bless your efforts.

1996 taurus cruise control intermittent

worn out possibly or gummed button. Or does it stop working while in cruise control? Does the resume work and accelerate button during operation?

I have a 2005 Ford Taurus and my cruise control has not been working for about a week now. The cruise control light is "ON" but it is not engaging? Also, the day after my cruise control stopped...

open the hood and check to see that the throttle cables are not out of place, if everything looks ok then unhook the cruise control cable from the throttle body (black plastic end) by pulling up on the cable end. this will disable your cruise control from making your car accelerate at unwanted times. sounds like there may be a problem with the cruise control servo.

Have a problem with intermittent cruise control on my 2007 Honda Civci Sedan. Took it to the dealer 2x, still have issues. "Main Cruise Control" lit on dash but cruise control intermittently will not...

cruise control operation is reliant on the following
road speed sensor ( speedo or VSS sensor )
engine rpms tacho/ ignition coil/module problem
clutch pedal sensor (VSS in automatic )
gear selection position sensor ( not properly adjusted causing flickering of the selector light)
brake pedal sensor
bad ground wire connections
r all need to work together or the CC will stop working
nothing to do with vents and all that you mentioned.
wire connections and harness connections for the transmission are suspect
CC will not operate under certain engine rpms and road speed

Speedometer works intermittently

It is most likely the speed sensor in the transmission.

My cruise control will suddenly stop working and the cruise light

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the brake fluid level. This may be an answer. Also have you had the brakes checked. The cruise control is integrated with the brakes. Any little thing wrong with them effects the cruise.

Cruise control switch works sporatically.

Faulty product. I install cruise control for 6 years. One of the cables are hooked into the throttle and the other in the vaccuum actuator, since it is electronically controlled actuator, the object itself might be losing it's contents or frankly worded, is taking a nose dive. works much like a brake booster does.

Is it a PID system? (Proportional integral derivative system)
or is it just standard proportional?

That will play a factor.

If you just have one of those cheesy controls (cruise controls), than replace it, obviously it wouldnt of cost much. if it is not, check the actuator and replace it! Replace the Fuse, brush it with wire brush, clean up all connections.
You should be ready to roll!

Good Luck.

Hi there. My car's signal lights will not work. We have checked the bulds and fuses and they are all in working order. A friend of ours told us it could be the Hazard light switch which also controls...

Same thing with my 2002 intrigue, one night the turn signals stopped working. hazards worked. then after a few minutes they worked just fine. it has been about two weeks since and had no problems!
