You need spark plugs, the champion on piece ones
in the motor (were talking 5.4 V8 here)
Can't have plugs in there older than 3 years
You need front oxygen sensors replaced at 100,000 miles
You most likely have several failed COP Ignition Coils, that
give you throttle body codes (the problem IS the coils NOT
the tps sensor or TACM on throttle body-just replace the
coils yourself (Rock Auto.Com for parts)
Clean the MAF Sensor (CRC MAF Cleaner)
New air filter
it is possible that your carb is worn and putting too much fuel in from when it was new...so only a NEW cat will clean up the excess emissions...worth checking ??
Your front tires could be out of balance, or out of the round. Have it balanced.
Shock absorber and /or suspension components worn or damaged.
Lose or worn out steering parts.
Doe's do it when you braking.
start by checking fuel pressure while under load, or a shop with a scanner can check fuel trims. This is a job for a shop with a scanner and a tech that know whats he's doing. Spark plugs and coils are a real problem in these engines. the spark plugs break off and need special tools to remove the old plugs. I would consult the FORD dealer or a shop that does a lot of FORD repairs.
Hi..my name is Keith...you will need to have the fault code read..and they will read it for free at any auto parts store..and that will tell you which cyclinder(s) that is having the problem..and it could be just a bad spark plug..or spark plug wire..or a coil..or a fuel injector..i hope this has helped
the four wheel drive uses vacuum hub locks. there is a vacuum solenoid on the passenger firewall in front of the battery box. sounds like you need a updated solenoid and possibly one or both hub locks. what happens is the old style solenoid vent allows water to get in and the hub locks freeze or stop working because of the water. the new style has a cover over the vent to prevent water from getting in.
