I bought a 97 expedition and the stereo was not working, so i put in and aftermarket stereo in and there still no sound to the speakers. I cheak all the speakers and every now and then they will work. My brother said there is a amp in the dash and there is on in the back for the sub. I dont know what to do and i dont really have the money to have someone look at it

there is an inline fuse running to the sub try locating it and replacing it it also may have cam out of its socket.

check you Fade and Balance,sometime the ground is used for two speakers sometimes a ground is used more then once will cause your problem ........Good luck......

Do you have a battery positive wire as well as a switchable power wire? Is it properly grounded? Double check for power and ground. Aftermarket radios have two blue wires for switchable power. one for an amp, and the other for a power antenna. Make sure the right one is used.

You may have a factory amplifier in the rear of the explorer in the right cargo panel. You need to supply power to it by connecting the amp power on (Blue/White I think) in the dash to a power source (such as red on your stereo harness) so it comes on with the key. If you do have the amplifier, that's why you have no sound.
