Transmission tends to malfuntion ...

Transmission occasionally 'hops' out of gear, sometimes 'refuses' to go into gears, and periodically will not disengage from gears ... 5 speed manual transmission ... what is wrong with it?

So since this issue has been a problem since the day I bought it brand new ... it should be covered under the warranty that Hyundai refuses to honor ... correct?

A transmission that jumps out of gear may be due to bent, binding or loose shift linkage, a loose transmission or clutch housing, worn or damaged input shaft bearings, broken motor mount, worn tapered gear teeth or synchronizer hub splines, loose shifter fork or rails, interlock hardware that is broken or missing, or excessive end play or runout in the output shaft or countergear

Check the hydraulic clutch fluid, if it is full then either the clutch is not releasing fully, the fluid inside the transmission is low, if the fluids are not low then the transmission will have to be replaced or rebuilt.

Map sensor

Manifold absolute pressure would not affect the transmission. It measures air flow and send the to he ECM (engine control module). Check the fluid level in the transmission. You may also have a plugged filter in the transmission and this will tend the keep the transmission in low gear because the sensor is not getting enough pressure to switch gears. In which case do a filter, gasket and fluid change.

When I'm idling in traffic and then gently touch the accelorater the car kangaroo hops constantly until car gathers a bit of speed. the same happens when reversing.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you check the spark plugs. If the plugs have big gaps, corroded, covered with carbon or just faulty, they just fail. One good reason why it hops during acceleration.

It's like fuel flooding. More fuel but less burning and if that's the case, the plugs must be replaced to resolve the issue.

Have you replaced the transmission fluid lately? If not, then now is a good time. If the transmission fluid is burnt, the transmission tends to fail. Now you feel that kangaroo thing, sooner or later the turtle.
It may just be stuck in gear and you'll notice that it's not shifting.

I strongly suggest that you replace the transmission fluid as well if you haven't done that. Don't forget to look over the spark plugs too.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

When in park my car wont go into gear and move, occasionally i can get it to but it skips pretty bad and doesnt want to switch gears, sometimes it clears out and runs great shifts gears well and everything...

Check your Transmission fluid level with the car warm, also if when you are driving your car, and you get a very loud whinning sound then your torque converter is shot and you will need to replace it. This sounds like a transmission issue that would be best diagnosed by either a transmission shop or a mechanic.

My 2000 Protege is a manual shift. Just recently, when I'm in 1st gear and I let the clutch out, the car awkwardly hops forwardly. I quickly shift into 2nd and that gear is fine. Why is my car doing this...

Sound like first gear is going out on you. It could also be an issue with the clutch. If the car has enough power try to take off in second gear and see if it hopes. If it doesn't there's likely a problem with first. Unless you are a certified auto mechanic, it's probably best to bring it in and have them conferm that it is a problem with the gear and have them take care of it. It might mean replacing the transmission.

Tranmission ford automatic will not stay in 3or 4 gears

sounds like your syncroids are off, gears tend to wear, and when they wear down so much it tends to kick out of gear! you could rebuild the transmission or go to a wrecking yard and get a used one. I would suggest the second thing!

Have a mazda 323 2001 astina it is a manual gear box when driving a long the car starts to kangaroo hop in 1st gear, 2nd gear and 3rd gear 4th and 5th gear are fine can you tell me if this is a gear box...

Sounds like oil on the clutch plate lining, burned or glazed facings. Could be worn or loose engine or transmission mounts. Sometimes it is worn splines on clutch plat hub or a warped pressure plate or flywheel.
