Torque setting Head Gasket Corolla 1997

The torque specification for the head bolts on a 1997 Toyota Corolla is usually between 26 and 30 foot-pounds. It's important to note that the torque specification can vary depending on the specific engine and head bolt type, so it's always best to consult a service manual or other reliable source for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

It's also important to follow the proper tightening sequence when installing the head gasket. The tightening sequence is usually specified in the service manual and is designed to ensure that the head bolts are tightened evenly and to the proper torque specification.

I recommend using a torque wrench to ensure that the bolts are tightened to the proper torque specification. It's also important to use a torque angle gauge to ensure that the bolts are tightened to the proper angle.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Torquing head

The 98 Corolla has a "torque-to-distance" spec.

First, torque all 10 bolts to 36 ft lbs (49 NM or 500kgf-cm), in a clockwise fashion, starting with the 2 center bolts.

Second, mark the bolts with a paint mark, and then torque each of the 10 bolts an additional 90 degrees.

Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa.
