Where can I obtain a new or used engine for a 98 ford expedition. I believe the engine has locked and will need to be replaced or be rebuilt. Can you give me an estimate on both rebuilt and new prices for the vehicles engine and a possible solution as to where the vehicle should be taken. The vehicle is in Nashville TN.

The engine can most likely be purchased from Car-Part.com (used auto parts) and you should be able to get it installed locally at any auto service shop near you in Nashville. I live in south Nashville, and know for certain that there are many small shops to choose from, but check around and make sure you get a reputable one.

SOURCE: 98 Expedition 4.6L Overheating, Blows Cold Air

Sounds like the fan and temp gauge (located on the intake mainfold is screwing up) , if its head gaskets it would be smoking out the tail pipe. Have you added any antifreeze if so was it once a week if so make sure nothings leaking on the ground if there isn't then its your head gaskets that would be a first for a 4.6 which is a good motor and none I would on ever had bad heads. I would check the water pump fan first with truck off grap fan at 9 and 3 and see if it wobbels forward and backward if so it's the fan. I have come across alot of bad fans. Fan would cost $30 and up. Rate of difficulty 1-10 I give it a 4.

SOURCE: Cannot locate single tank fuel

Hello
Ford doesn't sell ready to install fuel lines for a truck this age, I know this for sure, so you will not find them. I strongly suggest you try and locate a fuel line from a salavage yard, they made millons of these trucks and it should be fairly easy to locate a good fuel line.

I have a 98 ford expodtion lost the key and tor into the ignion plz help.

OK. So you lost your key. People do that all the time. That's what spare keys are for. But you apparently don't have a spare. So you tore into the ignition to try to get the vehicle to start. Now you are realizing that the vehicle has safeguards to prevent just that from happening (we call what you tried to do "hot wiring"). The reason that the car is designed that way is to prevent theft and therefore reduce insurance costs. Money saved in order to have a spare key.

So you made some stup1d mistakes.

  1. You lost your key.
  2. You didn't have a spare key.
  3. You destroyed your vehicles ignition system
And now you want help. Unfortunately, you can't fix stup1d.
Call the dealer, get it towed, have it repaired, get a new key AND a spare. And after you spend that $1000.00, consider it a lesson learned.

I have a 2006 Ford Expedition 5.4L engine and vehicle surges or shutters in overdrive only.

It can easily be the aftermarket equipment, you can call them. Since no trouble lights are on, just ask at Autozone or another good store and see what they show for a downshift solenoid and a converter lock-up solenoid and where they are located.

Another great source, keeping in mind that an Expedition is similar to an F150, are the Blogs. I believe a site like F150Owners.com or F150OwnersBlog.com have many owners using the same performance equipment you have. Some 4x4 sites are heavy into aftermarket modifications.

Also have your engine checked for "Camshaft Phasers" which can cause "bucking" under different engine loads. There was a Recall about these parts. In short, each engine head has a Camshaft. It is a variable timing camshaft. When 1 side does not match the other, there are problems.

I hope my solution is helpful.

I have a 98 expedition that starts every time but shuts down everytime too.

When you start it up don't completely release the key from the crank position, let off just enough to stop the starter, if the engine continues to run the ignition switch is defective, a common problem in this year. This is not the lock cylinder but the electrical switch located down at the bottom top of the steering column that the ignition key cylinder actuates via a long steel rod.
