I have a 2001 SAAB 9-3 with 2 radio problems. 1-many of the lights on the radio display are not lit. 2-when i turn left the radio switches from radio to cd. Any suggestions? Thanks
You have blown bulbs on a radio panel.Need to remove the radio, useing special 4 pins tool and change blown bulbs. 2-What about the steering wheel joystick-can you change from radio to cd? If so,problem in a contacts in switch.

You're a bit vague about the problem mate. Does the radio pick up AM or LW? Not sure what country you're in. Does the radio actually go? Check the aerial connections. Is this car imported from another country with different frequencies? You may need a band expander if this is the case.
Ok, those systems might still work because the not require as much energy as the starter. Check the Battery Voltage with a good Voltmeter. If below 12, there might be your problem!
Kind of an odd problem. This may be off in a different direction but I had an 78 BMW that the left turn signal did the same thing .It turned out to be the hazard light switch had a short in it. The problem was intermittent and very frustrating. The fix was a trip to the junk yard for a set of rims and the switch was a freebie. Don't know if this will help but I guess it can't hurt.

Is your SAAB automatic?
If so, it is most likely the Neutral Safety Switch.
I have had the same problem, it is very common in automatic Saab 9-3 models made in 1999-2002.
