Replaced MAP Sensor, now I have a misfire

My bet is on a bad Oxygen sensor for the random misfire. Don't forget there are upstream and downstream Oxygen sensors. Check the Rock Auto site for prices. It looks like you can replace both for about $60.

1991 ford explorer 4.0 v6 engine. at times my engine would rev up and suddenly die out. it always starts right up but this happens again and again always starting up instantly. Used a snap on code reader...

22 is a map/baro sensor code. They have a high failure rate often seen by GOOP or silicon in the vacuum hose near the sensor (it leaked out of the sensor when the sensor innards failed). 98 is a fuel pump circuit code. I would tend to think your main problem is the map, they can get very iffy and intermittant when they go bad. as usual, have an expert diagnose both codes properly.
