Hard to say without testing all possibilities. Sounds like the battery is not holding a charge anymore. Which could be a result of a faulty alternator. Have the voltage checked. When the alternator is faulty, it does not charge the battery as you drive, therefore you are running off the battery only and eventually the battery will fail. Therefore the car won't start on it's own. Hope this helps a little.

I drove to work fine got back in 4 hours later car won't start battery dead. then got a jump came home turn car off now car wont start.

If you just hear a click, try this:
This procedure usually works:
·Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter. Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine.

·Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.

·Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck bendix gear.
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

My 2003 Kia Sedona won't start. The Alternator and battery have been recently replaced. The interior lights come on. It won't jump start. Any ideas?

Alternator doesn't have anything to do with starting the car, it supplies power to the system once the engine runs. Does your starter crank the engine? Do you get spark? Is fuel pressure correct?

Car starts when it's jump but won't start again could it be the starter

the battery in your in car is maybe drained or damaged or the alternator which suppose to charge your battery is not working so the battery remains uncharged. One way to know if battery is not being charged, jump your car and disconnect from jump leads and take out any one of battery terminals. If engine stops, then your alternator is not working and if it remains idling, then your battery is faulty. Replace battery and see if it works.

Car wont start, seems like battery went dead

If the car doesn't start with a jump you might have a bad alternator. The alternator supplies voltage to the car once the engine is running. If the battery is dead, and the alternator isn't putting out sufficient voltage, the engine cannot run. Then again sometimes a car with an extremely dead or internally shorted battery WON'T start with a jump. Replace the battery and try again.
