Your right on. That really sucks. It could possibly be a bad hose
to the heater core, but most likely it's the damn heater core.
If I were you, I'd follow the 2 coolant hoses from the engine to the
firewall, where they enter it, and cut them and put a double ended
fitting to tie them together, so you can keep driving the car, until you
can have the heater core repaired. Make sure the pressure and temp is
down, before you attempt any such repair. Good luck.

96 vw golf gti vr6 just replaced water pump everything was fine until today when it was idling heard a pop then steam started coming from defrost vents antifreeze on passenger side floor

More than likely heater core leak, I assume you are losing coolant. I've changed a couple heater core in my life but nothing like changing the one in the video. I saw 3 videos, and all said you have to pull the dash.

Good sign of a heater core leak, or leaking by end of hose at firewall where it attaches to heater core. I assume coolant level is going down as well?

Im leaking antifreeze from a pipe by the firewall what is that pipe is call, u have one side going to the water pump, and the other side going to the thermostate

this should be the heater core,is the pipe itsself bad or is it just the hose needing replaced?does heat work,is the passengers floorboard wet with coolant?could be the hose bad or the heater core bad, some cars have whats called a heater control valve right there at the firewall that the hoses hook up to,it could be bad,if hoses just hook up to two pipes sticking out of firewall, check hoses first, then look in passengers floor to see if its wet, heater core is inexspensive but costly to have replaced.

Duh-the heater output is low-the coolant level is normal. This is a GMC product which would make a really good addition to an artificial reef, but I live too far from the coast to walk home. Bummer

Heater core is eather stoped up or not working correctly, Check by using a clothes hanger and shove it up your a/c drain tube. This should be located on passenger side up by the firewall, Sometimes this gets stoped up. But more then sure it's the heator core. Best of luck to you.

04 VW Jetta GLS heater core instuctions?

If it is necessary to remove the heater assembly, the cooling system must be drained before removing the heater core.
When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing
  • The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
  • Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.
f74-01.gif The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core. Heater Core
  • Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
  • Remove the heater coolant hoses.
  • Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
  • Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
  • Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
  • To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.

Runs hot and hearter not blowing hot air

a heater uses the temperature of the cars water, running threw a heat exchanger if the heater core has failed water will not circulate threw the engine properly this will and can cause over heating as well as nothing blowing from the heater. good luck.heater cores are generally inexpensive parts to replace.

last thing you can check if heater core is ok. is the thermostat.

Coolant leak in VW Golf mark 5 1.9 TDi auto DSG

There is, however, an air outlet into the driver's foot area. If the heater core is leaking, the air coming through the heater core will carry the droplets into the entire air ducting system. The driver's foot area may be the closest outlet. If it smells like coolant, you need to replace the heater core regardless of where in the cabin the coolant is coming out.
