Intermittent flashing of all dashboard lights

A few days ago the warning lights on my ford fiesta's dashboard started flashing intermittently and the speedometer and tachometer keep dropping out.
I thought it could be damp or evening the battery not holding it's charge seeing as it's 6 years old now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Everything is fine apart from the lights flashing.

Yes the car drives fine, the light and guages are the only thing wrong.

this problem hasn't been happening long so I've not been able to see any connections between whats happening on the dashboard.

I'm thinking it still could be a battery problem. If it was a bad connection, either on the battery terminal it's self or some other connection which was causing electrical interference to the car's ECM.

I'll test the connections the best I can and if I still have nothing I will try your suggestion and remove the console. Thank you for your help. I'll let you know how things turn out.

I must say that I?m very pleased with myself.
    Thanks for your help.

Does the car drive properly, even though the dash lights and guages are malfunctioning?

Weird, sounds like your battery connections are possibly loose, but
the car wouldn't start properly, or at all, if this was the case. You might just have a loose connection to the dashboard controls?
If you are up to the task, I'd remove the guage console,if you can,and make sure all the connections are tight. Good luck.

Good, just goes to show, that sometimes "weird" simple things,

can cause unexpected issues. Glad to hear it worked itself out.

Hi, i have a grand cherokee 5,7 from 2006. The lights in the instrument panel, and the exterior lights keep flashing when the engine in turned on. I cannot adjust the lights in the instument panel neither....

I have a similar problem - every once in a while all of my dash lights flash on like the car is trying to conk out/stall (I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee) - the car has no loss of power and runs fine, just all of the dashboard lights and warnings come on like its going to stall. Happens on dry days, wet days, cold days, warm days - at least 3 times a month. trouble is, because its intermittent no one can find the problem.

The airbag light on the dashboard comes for few reasons, either there is a bad connection or connection came loose but than the light would stay on at all times, if it comes periodically than I would look up to the owner's manual and also find the airbag check label inside the car as it might be faulty or in need of replacement. The danger is that if it is faulty it can blow up by itself or in case of accident (hope none happens) it will malfunction.

Hi, I have a 52 plate ford fiesta with intermittent speedo problems. Speedo goes off and engine light comes on. Any ideas? Sharon

Hi,

When your Engine Check light comes on, it means your computer has detected a fault and wil have stored the code in your computer. This code can be read by your local Ford dealership, using an OBDII scan tool.

An intermittent speedo problem is probably caused by an issue with the Vehicle Speed sensor (or wiring), which is mounted on your transmission case (see No. 7 in diagram below):

As you have indicated your vehicle is 2011, you should have this issue rectified under the New Car Warranty and repaired at no cost.

99 LS400, VSC light goes on intermittently on start up.

Doubtful it's an intermittent electrical problem. Far more likely you've got a wheel speed sensor issue. Since VSC gets all it's information from the ABS system, start by pulling the trouble codes. I bet you'll see an ABS code. Read this post
